Gas Pipe Sounds Kinda Nice...

Here's my day:

I got home this afternoon and the whole condo smells like noxious oil paint
thinner, must be cheap paint, haven't smelled this in years. Ordinarily I like paint
smell but this is caught in my throat and making me choke and gives me a
headache. I have the fan going at top speed, the only window that will open is,
and the fan over the stove is going. The unit upstairs is being painted for the
new buyers and apparently the smell has seeped down here. I don't want to fall
asleep for fear I will not wake up! I have no where to go, poor Molly! brain
cells dripping to floor...

So today while I was out I bought a new lamp for the new place, which of
course will jinx it bigtime, BUT ... I was on the hunt for
toile fabric and stopped into Calico Corners, not usually my cup o' tea but
there was a floor lamp in the shape of a branch painted dark RED (you see this
comin'?) with a black shade silvered inside. It's big finial was also a red
branch. It had a tag that said Final Sale with three or four numbers crossed
off and there it was ----- tada------$50. I snatched that puppy up so fast,
got it up to the register and saw it said As Is on it, queried the lady and she
assured me nothing was wrong and it worked. I didn't really care because of
it's fabulosity. Wahooo- took the finial off and stuck it in my purse for
safety, she gave me a bag for the shade and I used my ski holder in my car to
hold the base (s sort of condom affair that runs through the center of my car
that was just made for quilt sticks, but they call it for skiis so as to appeal to a broader audience)

Stopped at Barnes & Noble, bought a few things and knocked the finial across the
floor as I pulled out my wallet. Broke into smithereens. Easy come, easy go.
But all was not lost because I bought a very long branch coral strand in Santa
Fe last fall and many of the stones were too damn lumpy to actually wear- so
they are now glued on top of my lamp!

All's right with the world except for the smell.

Update: Isn't paint, it's worse- floor has been refinished- that's why it is SO bad!
Still can smell it throughout the condo but funnily enuf, not in hallway or
anywhere in public areas. And we have big thick cement floors so I can't
imagine how it got in here- plus only one room of mine is under one part of
their unit. Anyway, fans still going, Molly still a mess (she is scared of fans
and the only fan I have is the one on the stove- her arch enemy- the SIZZLE
from frying. All stems from one day the smoke alarms went off. Poor thing. So
we are going to bed with out headaches, door closed and window open.

If you don't hear from me tomorrow, call the Newton police to break into #3 and
tell them it is ALL Peter-the Greek's fault, the asshole. Oh. Call TY in FL too.
