Shopping Day

Amazing-  TY actually wanted to go shopping yesterday so everything I had on my mental plan was scrapped to attend this very rare occasion.  We went to an outlet mall (maul!) because he wanted all cotton sweat clothes and he is convinced that the only retailer that has cotton is Ralph Lauren.  NO, it doesn't matter that *I* am among the shopping elite, he knows best.  So I thought I could scurry away and point him to the (ugh) Ralph Lauren store to figure out for himself and had him drop me at the opposite end of the maul to check out Saks-on-Fifth.   And OK so I gave him vague directions to the other end of the maul to buy myself a few extra minutes!

But I didn't make it to Saks-  found the Theory store and blasted through, into the dressing room, out and into the clothes I grabbed, into my own stuff and out to checkout.  I still hadn't gotten that honk on my phone that TY was in trouble so hit the Elie Tahari store. If I hadn't bought a dress just days before, this is the place to find one.  Did another blast through and got the yellow long sleeved tee shirt I have looked everywhere for, and a pair of white pants for the summer-  mine are all so loose I can shimmy out of them.  Cheap-  retail $250, 'my" price $40.  Headed for Saks with a pass through Cole Hahn on the way.  Not much in Saks for me, but time was short.  The phone honked and I had only done half the store and he was driving back to my end of the maul so I tried on some shoes, couldn't decide, and left them-  Headed for the door and OMG (we fashion bloggers say that a lot), there was a dress:  an adorable dress, here:
With pretty lace on the sleeve cap, a little row around the neck and a muslin top with cozy knit skirt in a NON-PINK color.  All little girls clothes are pink, yuk.  Rifled through the stacks to find a size and realized I have no clue what size Ms. Hazel is- hey she's 2, I'll get a 2!  Loved this dress and kinda think it will pass the mother's fussy eye too since she likes conservative colors and sturdy useful easy clothes.  Hit the check-out and looked at it more carefully:
The label!  How could I NOT buy this?  And notice the color is 'hazelnut'.

And checkout complete I hit the parking lot where TY was still busily adjusting stuff in the new car.  I am way sick of this-  I want things with off and on switches and this friggin car has more toggles and switches and computerized setting choices than the space shuttle.  Meanwhile I had to open the manual to find out how to get it out of P the other day!  And off we went on our Day or Retail to check out the new Dedham Mall we had been hearing about.  I was getting dizzy so time for lunch at PF Changs.  I love their big cement horses out front, but I have some issues with mall food generally and chain restaurants specifically, I wasn't thrilled.  Had some lettuce wraps that wee OK if you slather the hot sauce on, nothing to write home about, but notice, here I am writing about it.  Whatever, it was serves with a half a head of iceberg lettuce and you may easily realize that iceberg lettuce does not bend to wrap anything.  Poor choice on their part.  Boston or butter lettuce would work so much better, but it's more costly so instead it was a half-assed attempt.  And I was a gooey mess.

And I finished the second twin hat-  YEAAAA, I beat the birth I think because I haven't heard yet-  kind of like getting that call-for-entry in two weeks before the due date-  unheard of efficiency!
The picture makes him look a bit stiff but in actuality he hugs the hat nicely.  Whatever, it's done.  And also DONE is my ever making up a pattern again.  Also, if the mom doesn't like the fish and the turtle she can easily snip them off.  Seaweed too.  Ya never know, the babies may not be fish-and-turtle kids!  Now, the hard part- getting them mailed out.

While walking the dog yesterday I finally gave in a took the street banner that was in a box on the side of the road for a whole week.  Actually there were several banners in there but I only took the one on top because it was black and had huge lettering.  The ones in the box were more wordy and reds and blues-  not as graphic.  But here it is, I dragged it home dripping in the pouring rain at 6 AM.  If the rest are still there in a few more days I will probably grab them all.  Curbside- Fair Game, right?  TY thinks I am a hoarder...

Maybe so.  But I didn't get these:

These here folks are over $1000 shoes (couldn't read the original tag, but they were at Filenes Basement for $290) that I quite loved and fit like a glove.  Until I tried to stand up.  I crashed right over into a rack of clothes.  One simply has no balance on those teensy high heels.  And it isn't very cool to have to take a walker with you just to wear heels like this.  So I took a picture to commemorate me actually having shoes that expensive on my feet,  never will be in my closet.  Sigh.  Don't you just love the bright yeller soles?

The retailing fiasco stops today, right after I get to Whole Fods and find the low-carb bread I love-  they only have it every few weeks.  'When Pigs Fly' bakery, whole wheat low carb-  8g of carb per slice-  be still my heart, there is a sandwich in my future!  To die for.  (But then I am so easily pleased by a piece of bread these days!
