Hot hot hot

Yup, there's a FLY IN THE OINTMENT.  As usual, whenever a plan is well thought out.  So, here's the drill, I am desperate to get back down to FL to the studio but had to wait to get through this weekend to take care of our little dependent while (I almost said WHILST but caught myself) TY is playing golf in a tournament.  He decided it would be better to not kennel her for our selfish personal desires, or something like that.  So here I am sitting and watching her sleep because it's too bloody hot to go outside.  And she could jolly well have spent her days sleeping at the kennel!
Molly in her stylish new soccer design Thunder Shirt, unafraid of fireworks and thunder forever more.  Is this not the most cute dog on earth?  Too bad she has some anxiety disorders, not unlike her mother.  But I didn't get no damn shirt.

Anyway, because I was tied up here I signed on to a bookbinding class down at the Fuller Craft Museum, about 45 minutes away and at night for 3 hours.  I didn't like the hours and commuting at traffic time but really wanted the class and it only ran for 4 weeks starting this Wednesday.  Except Tuesday they called to tell me that it was cancelled because no one else signed on.  I was so bummed, but started thinking maybe I will head for the studio right after this weekend is over and Molly's dad is again available to, I dunno, watch her sleep(?).

But here comes yet another FLY.  TY got scheduled for his Achilles surgery on next Tuesday.  He will be lying on the couch for six friggin weeks (making a perfect set with his sleeping dog at his feet.)  I will morph into
                                                                  Nurse Ratched
The thing is, last time he had Achilles surgery, it was his left foot that they installed the cadaver tendon in, and that was encased in his gigantic velcro boot and he was able to get in his car and drive himself hither and yon in about 4 weeks.  This time it's his right foot and thus cannot be used in a car so *I* am the designated driver now too, as well as cook, nurse, mother, cleaning team, dog walker, et al.  The only way out, as I see it, is to take his drugs myself, thus rendering my pain unimportant.

But on to happier subjects, and pictures since I finally charged my camera.  Here were my mole pictures, a day late and a dollar short, I know.  Just look at the sunflowers.

And as soon as I actually got the dishes washed, I was digging round in our storeroom and found these Fiestaware plates.  Guess I will save them for next time.

I started an alphabet book for the grandkids when I found fabric with all the letters printed in a font that was OKed by the resident (former) art director who is verrrrry fussy about his font choices.  I've had a devil of a time finding a few of the letters, the biggest problem being the 'X'.
I was looking for images already printed on fabric but finally realized that *I* print on fabric all the time so what's to stop me from mining google images for X's?  So, a-hunting I would go, and I came up with some stellar X images.  I now am complete and can start assembling the darn thing, I am planning on grommets so it can be taken apart, and have also changed the plan from facing pages having the letter opposite the item it stands for.  Instead I will put the letters on the actual item, making a 26 page book instead of a 52 pager.  Such constraint!  Such editing!  What a pain this has turned out to be without my 'stuff' here to play with.  But I will soldier on, as I must have something to show for this totally wasted summer.

Oh, I hung the Mile Miller sculpture/paintings to show them to TY the other day.  I have to bash another nail into the wall but need the tall ladder, but here are three of them (and I know they don't 'go' on a red wall.  Sue me.
Right above some of TY's singing bowls-  hmmmm, I should probably see if I can set up a wee symphony around here on Tuesday, as I will need it with my Percoset!   And finally, another tiny birdie, this one set on opera glasses.  I love these so much, steampunk birds with measuring tape wing feathers.  I think I need one more and I'll call it quits.  Maybe.  We'll see what I do if I ever get my check from the last sold quilt.

and now for something completely different, courtesy of Liza:
