Brunch

If I die, this doggie will have to go to a shelter because no one will take her.  Keep me healthy for her sake.  She doesn't know, it's so sad...

What a start to the day!  I was surprised with brunch at Mistral, my favorite restaurant in Boston.  I have linked to the brunch menu.  I started out with a Bellini (what else?) with a big ole slice of peach on the glass and for an appetizer I picked melon with some dried sliced orange and tiny bits of sorbet.  Then I picked the duck confit with root vegetable hash and eggs.  Ohmigawd, it was the best brunch I have had in a long time.  The restaurant wasn't too busy on this holiday weekend, but a young bride and groom entered and had a little reception brunch for about 20 people going on in one corner.  I was thinking what an elegant wedding it was on such a beautiful day.  The bride was in a short white dress and carried a simple bouquet, the groom was in a nice business suit and the guests were in all varieties of dress.  It seemed to be a celebratory party without all the accompanying angst of a typical wedding.  Ask me-  weddings are such a blasted waste of resources, of energy, of happiness!  I have seen bride after bride lose it over the stresses she puts herself through for one friggin day, when that day should be one of joy and celebration for all concerned.  Someday I will write out Sandy's Rules of Throwing a Wedding.  I will zip my mouth for now.

Instead I will talk about my new Seven Circle Necklace that I got off ravelry, thanks to Tonny.  As soon as she told me about it I had to get one started, and used up a silk and rayon ribbon that I had unknitted from a tank top that had proved to be extremely unflattering several years ago.  Here I am:

And here is a closer view of the cords.  Iw as supposed to make seven but three was enough.

And then, after breakfast I hiked out to Target to see what John Derians stuff was like.  It's all melamine, not my favorite, so I only bought a bunch of apple salad plates thinking I could use something unbreakable since all my floors are stone and I seem to have a high rate of attrition on my 'stuff'

I was a bit disappointed in the choices-  no flower plates on display, some designs looked dull and shadowy, and others weren't designed nearly as interesting as his normal line, but hey, these are cheap!
There are only three different apples designs, was hoping for more, but I like the color, they are somewhat cute, and you by now know I have a *thing* for apples.

Gotta go read before I collapse-  a long way to go in this book and I am NOT loving it.  Wish there was a book club for art books instead, or even better, how about a magazine book-club!
