Internet-less, almost

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

This isn't actually under my desk, but a reasonable facimile.  I know because I have been lying on my back with a flashlight trying to get it all untangled and neatened up so I know what goes to what.  Why, you innocently ask?  Why indeed.  Because I got NO INTERNET all of a sudden.

For two days I have been inhaling dust bunnies down there and tracking back to wall sockets because something is wrong internet-wise, and when that happens I assume it's my fault so I do the complete check before calling for help.  Two days of that, then at 7 AM on Sunday morning I call because believe it or not, one can make contact at that hour.  Unfortunately it was with a Spanish speaking gal named Katrinka who chatted away with me in her native language I think (who can tell, I was also talking to a barrel echoing!) while she was diagnosing my issues from down in Houston.

THREE HOURS LATER I was still on the barrel-phone, and things were worser and worser.  We worked well together in spite of our language barrier-  she directed me and I did what I wanted and when lights went off or on I would announce it.  the bottom line is that I have to resort to a fixer-guy from Comcast visiting me on Tuesday.  Tuesday will make it six days with no internet.

So here's the thing:  even though the Airport is disconnected I found a wee faint signal that sort of drifts in and out, most likely from one of the BC students in the apartments across the street.  I figure I am getting the signal now because the patriots are playing so nobody is using the clouds.

So, that's what I am doing-  stuff off the net.  Just in case you were wondering where I am.  I am packing plastic bins for my move back to Florida, I am sorting and cleaning closets and refrigerators, and oh yes, this-

crrrrunch

A slight accident with my new car.  the garage cement corner picked the exact moment I was driving out to JUMP at my car and stave in the side.  In truth, some asshole with a large van was blocking some of the garage door and I had to pull left in a too tight situation.  Until I was stopped by the sickening crunch.  Tomorrow I must find someone to fix it.  I am sick over it, my pretty car all a crumpled mess.  (I'll have to get the picture up later, it's on the phone and I'm too lazy to go find it.)

On a happier note, I got my collage picked up from the Brush Gallery, pulled my quilt and other collage off the hall wall and packed it all up, packed 2 big bins with stuff to haul in the car.  I finished off a scarf for a Christmas present and blocked it and am now thinking I want an i-cord edge.  I finished one of the sleeves on the coat, need yarn for the second one but will order in Florida.  Spent two days with different friends as I am jamming in as much as possible before time is up.  And internet is up.

Monday morning addendum: Just got the word that the damage to the car is gonna cost $4000. I am weeping over crunched car.
PS:  Didja notice this post is all black and white except for a blue cord in the electrical mess above?  That's why I am using blue font now-  because it 'goes'!  Just a little design decision in a week when I am making so few.

In the same vein, we were with no cable for 5 days, (ie no tv except for the small box in our bedroom. Thank heaven, that one does get Mad Men). But what did the cable man find??? Mice in the cupboard under the TV, which had dined on our cable wire! Back in service now, thankfully. Good luck with the car repair. Ouch!
