Alphabet Soup

Finally, after eight months, I finished up the Alphabet Book. I decided to not bind it into a book and instead let the 'pages' be free. I found a perfect box to contain it all, covered it with fabric matching the binding on the pages, added the kid's names and it's a Done Deal. Whew, a weight off my shoulders and a sense of finally accomplishing something. I showed it to my little group here in Florida, and got four orders for 'copies'. I told them they couldn't possibly afford it! Guess they think I churn 'em out with no angst. Sigh.

So, today, after we got back from the Mac store, I had TY drop me at the studio where I have been transferring UFOs onto my little encaustic thing. Of course it's not at all what I want it to be, so back I go to work it a bit further, maybe TWO UFO's... Stop me. Stop me NOW. Geesh, I miss my crit group because they were so great at calling me on my obsessive tendencies.

Last night I got the turkey gumbo finished and wow, it was great. I EVEN added okra, which I usually don't like at all, but I managed to cook it until the slime disappeared- no one ever told me you could do that! The surprise is that they taste very much like green beans. Who knew- all I ever heard about was slime. Unfortunately we have enough gumbo for the fifth division and it isn't something to eat five days in a row. Can't even give it to the dog. So, it will hit the Bermuda Triangle of my kitchen, the freezer, where it will sit until I throw away a giant brown unrecognizable ice ball. Unless of course you love turkey gumbo and live in south Florida. Give me a call!

The book is fabulous and I love that you are not binding it - the better for sharing. They can line them up and make words.
