Today is the day when I was supposed to be winging my way back to Boston and TY's golf pals were passing me in mid-air on their way to my guestroom. Well, man plans and god laughs. The guys called and had been notified that their flight had been cancelled because of the latest northeast anticipated snowstorm. I scurried to the JetBlue site and sure enough, my flight up was also cancelled. You can't change flights online so I called them right away and with my phone plastered to my ear I did two loads of wash, dried it, and folded it all before a person came to the phone to help me. By then they had already rescheduled me to go out Friday night, the soonest they could do and I gratefully accepted. The Boston guys were able to change airlines and fly into the less desirable airport hopefully arriving tonight. Disaster averted, at least so far.

This gives me opportunity to get a few more Ikea things screwed together, so I called the Walking Nazi and booked her back into today's morning plan, and will be in the studio most of the day breaking nails (or chewing on them!)

Oh, did I tell you that the water heater gave out last night? Nothing like three golfing guys coming back home to cold showers, so first thing we booked in a plumber for that, don't know when he will show up, but *shower* is off my to-do list for a good long time unless I go to the gym, an unthinkable option.

Raced to the Maul yesterday to visit Baby Gap to grab a few cute things for the grandbabies birthdays. Originally I was going to do this in Boston so I could avoid the schlepp part, but that won't work any more. My suitcase is full of toddler stuff and one warm sweater for when I get off the plane and try to talk a taxi into taking me home. I travel light, basically because I don't have anything except Florida gear here. My comcast news this morning listed the 10 snowiest cities in the US- Syracuse topped them, followed by Rochester, and then Buffalo. Yup, that's how I grew up and went to college, guess I didn't know there were other options! We sure got a lot of use out of the toboggans, not a form of transportation for most of you I know, but sort of standard where I grew up. The dirty secret is that I went to Boston to escape winter back in 1962, what a joke on me- I was too young to know better, thought 65" of snow was downright tropical compared to 88". As we say, duh... Mine was just like this but beat up. And it had real rope, not the polypropeline stuff.I don't know who these people are or why in hell they are smiling because once the run is over they have to WALK back up the hill, then climb a flight of stairs, then wait in lines, then whizz down the run into the biting wind. And they think this is fun. HA! Meanwhile *I* am in the lodge ordering my third stemaing hot chocolate and sitting next to the fire.

Last night I checked my mail before I went to bed and heard from an old pal from Rochester (hence Western New York is on my mind) who invited me to be in an exhibition next summer. This is exactly what I need- a plan, a deadline, a reason to finish up a piece that has me stumped! It couldn't have come at a better time, an I will 'jump in it' as soon as I get back from Boston. I woke up at 3 AM after a dream that someone left about a mile of webbing, the kind of stuff they make karate belts out of, and that was all I needed as an answer to what to do with this piece. So today I read my Horror-of-the-Day:
An unexpected interaction with a friend or a new acquaintance can raise your level of self-confidence today. The faith that someone else has in you now may exceed the belief you have in yourself. But you don't necessarily suffer from low self-esteem; it's just that you must stretch to fulfill other people's expectations of you. Don't waste your time feeding your doubts. Your uncertainty doesn't have to slow you down in the pursuit of your goals.
Now, I have never been one to 'follow my stars' other than as a joke, but the guy who writes these sure has me pegged. That's why I keep posting them, only interesting if you're a fellow Leo, or whatever I may be now that they are changing what we all thought we were.

I have another story to tell, but will have to continue after I get back from the walk and do a bit of 'assembly'. I will certainly need a typing break during that process. later...
