Two Horrors Aren't Better Than One

Two horoscopes today- the one above is from the Austin Kleon blog but the usual purple one below is Horrible Horror today. Doesn't make me want to grab a coffee and get into it right away.

An unforeseeable event could temporarily topple you from the beautiful cloud upon which you were perched. Your vision of the future may crumble like a house of cards, suggesting that the day starts better than it ends. However, be careful about your assumptions, for today's emotional challenges can be harbingers for deeper intimacy. If you don't become caught in a web of insecurity, a more loving relationship is likely to develop.
Saturday, hit the studio with a vengence, just me and the barky dog. No one was in the whole complex today except the granite cutter. I wasted half the morning trying to get Sirius to play over the computer, running outside to find my VIN number because apparently the Iranian guy who sold us the car used some new secret log-in and password so we aren't really signed up at all for the free year. Aaarugh, and just when I got fully addicted to 'Whatever, Martha'.

After that I settled right into finishing up the red and white quilt once and for all, and by 5:30 I signed my name on the front and it's a Done Deal. I'll photograph it tomorrow when I don't have a d*o*g in the picture. And the snaps on the back of the quilt and on the hanging bar look like they will work perfectly. I just have to cover the wood with something more attractive if it peeks out. I do have some of the border material left and may try that. By tomorrow the muslin underlayment will be dry and I will be able to glue something on top to finish it up. Oh yeah, and make the label. I never remember those pesky things.

So, I think I've broken a personal best record for this millenium- I've started AND finished two big quilts in 6 months. I'm not counting smaller things, just the big quilts. Even at my most prolific I only hit 6 pieces in a year.

As soon as I got home I made up a batch of cookies for Nate and Jackie- will stash them in the freezer to keep them safe from mauraders until they arrive. Boy, am I ever out of practice in the cookie department. I made these way too big. Tomorrow I have to make a shopping list to get some things in stock here. We've been out so much lately that I have not been doing regular shopping plus I am trying to use up what I have. It kills me to find 'sell by' and 'use by' dates that have expired two years ago. I had to dump some arborio rice today because it just didn't smell like rice should, then I started sniffing all my grains and dumped the bulgur, some brown rice, a small package of barley- all things I use once in awhile, but not a whole package. I will have to plan better. While baking tray after tray of cookies we watched a George Clooney movie with intrigue, murder, and exploding cars.

All in all, it was George who had the shitty day, not so much me. maybe he's a Leo too?
