New Toof

The dentist was good, but damn, he took two full hours to drill down the remaining toof and put on a temporary crown. I spent the rest of the day on the couch gazing at daytime tv and trying to get my poor stretched out mouf to stop hurting. Of course it eventually did, and I guess I needed the day off too because I woke up feeling immeasurably better. The new toof won't be ready for weeks, but that's fine because it's a reason to stay here in FL longer.

The range of good-byes here in this Pseudo-Living Situation is daunting. The car carriers are arrivng daily to pick up people's cars and haul them north. Houses are closing up for the season and hurricane shutters are appearing on vulnerable windows. Everybody has decided to have a good-bye cocktail party so our social schedule is daunting. Actually tonight is the only night this week I will be forced into actually scrounging around for something to eat. Like Baroness Carrickfurgus I am now officially spoiled and no longer have the desire to actually prepare my own food, a commoners job, eh? "I'll just call down to the kitchen, dahling...". But here, nobody answers! Bummer. Anyway, the friend list is getting slimmer here these days and soon we will be on our own with empty roads and no waits in restaurants. Maybe another two weeks will do it.

I spent yesterday comparing and contrasting large cardboard tubes to mail off quilts, and finally bit the bullet and bought a carton of ten. All was well with the (large) price and I hit the 'buy now' only to find the shipping charge to my house would be $92! WTF? This was almost what the tubes cost! I went back and changed the delivery address to the studio and got delivery lowered to $62, but I am still pissy that it costs so much to have my mailing stuff mailed! I got 60" tubes so I can cut them down when needed, but I do need them this long for the things I need to mail off now. Hopefully they will be reusable and I'll have a good supply for...umm...life. Even if I live a good long time. Guess it means I must increase the size of the quilts I make. And hey, even MAKE some QUILTS!

We went to the nursery to look at plants for the empty pot that formerly housed the Octopus (RIP). There were all sorts of aloes and agaves there but none so magnificent as the dear departed, and I'm not so sure I want to spend all that money again for a two year plant even if it's death throes are that spectacular. At any rate, I decided that we should wait to plant something in the fall when we return rather than now, and I will try to do some research to find something equally architectural that will love the pot the way the Octopus did. Meanwhile, it sort of looks like we had a yard-toof pulled and there is vacant space where there shouldn't be.

Today we have an architect coming to see if we can add a new garage onto the house. There is a bit of vacant property on one side and it would be great if we could actually pull the real car into the garage we have. The toy car is in there now, and the other part of the garage is only meant for a golf cart which we don't have, so it's filled up with the toy car's equipment- the roof, a few tires, extra lawn chairs, garbage cans and recycling bins, bags of mulch, ladders, bikes, a fire pit, a fake tree, equipment for reaching avacados and mangos way up high, pictures we don't want any more, a rolled up rug that is to go back north, basically junk. It's my contention that the toy car might fit in the small part of the garage IF the crap was removed. But that ain't gonna happen.
