I have the first 3 9 patches laid out and ready to sew. Yesterday I finished all the sorting and bagging for the 6 different fabric values I'm using, and of course came across a few massive mistakes and little stuck-together squares. Last night as I was checking to see which ceiling light was out in the (former) studio, I got sucked in and spent a couple of more hours switching out fabrics I didn't feel were contrasted highly enough. So today, as soon as I leave this task, I sew.
Yesterday I got called to duty at 7 AM because a kid needed a follow-car to the auto body shop in friggin' Cambridge. Nothing I like better than driving to Cambridge in morning traffic- no wonder the body shop is there- you kind of have to visit it regularly! Anyway, I was right on time and then for my 'service' I was fed a diner breakfast of Avocado Benedict (no sauce, please) which kept me feeling full the rest of the day!
I arrived back home at 10 after being in the car for three hours at that point, to walk the dog, then take off immediately for my pal Sylvia's because Mac MacNamara was in town to pick up his quilts from her and she knows how much I like to laugh at his antics.
Loved seeing this quilt he had sent from SF to the local guild show here, another fabulous free-thinking and impromptu effort I loved, this one red and white. And who knew he loves parsnips? We decided that my Parallax piece needs another show and this one is the one to hang next to it- sort of a mini Red and White exhibit, like NY but (ahem) quite different. While admiring Sylvia's next efforts on the design wall I spied a small red and white antique piece and she added it to my collection. I don't know HOW I would survive without Sylvia's fabric contributions over the years. Every piece she has given me has sent me off in some new exploration. I immediately added it to the big box o' stuff I want to take back to the FL studio, attempting to eliminate all my supplies from Boston

...just in case...
1. we find a smaller inexpensive-yet-stylish convenient city condo, 2. we move out completely to FL and only get a hotel when in town here, 3. we throw caution to the winds and take on a bigger more luxurious (read two car parking!) place and simply plan on spending more time in Boston, or 4. sit still and stay as we are. What to do, what to do... I certainly hope we can arrive at some sort of decision this summer. Meanwhile I am hiring 'fixers' for all the things I've put off doing here, and the list is long, in case we need to move quickly on some 'perfect' situation. Whatever that may be.
Meanwhile, TY called last night from the Los Angeles County Art Museum where he had thoroughly enjoyed an exhibit called 'The Clock' by Christian Marclay He took clips from all sorts of old movies that each had some sort of timepiece included in the images, then arranged them all to read the actual time as the 12 hour movie is being viewed. TY was enthralled and apparently sat there for over an hour trying to identify the clips and checking his watch! (The link above doesn't describe this work, but you can learn more about his other interests.)
