Today I am smitten by the Pieces of Things and how, combined, they are greater than the sum of their parts. First. The Mona Lisa reduced to the largest pixels still recognizable as Mona:
MONA LISA REMIX BY GRAPHIC NOTHING
Leonardo da Vinci's 'The Mona Lisa' reduced & remixed down into 140 exact circles of colour. Makes no sense close up. Makes every sense from the other side of the room.
Here a piano piece is played by isolating each note and assigning it to a different piano player. This is an incredible job of editing.
Christian Marclay's wondrous project, 'The Clock' which my husband found quite by accident in LA this spring. Now I find that it will be at the Boston MFA and I simply must catch it while in town. The video is self explanatory.
Next, not having anything to do with the' theme du jour', but because I said I would- here are a few quilts that use vintage dish cloths:
Cave Canum
Filling Negtive Spaces, or, as my friend Teddy Pruett named it, 'The Yeller Quilt'
Boomerang Quilt
Learning to Sew
Hazel's Baby Quilt
The Buck Stops Here (damask)
Blind Tag
