Voice Rose Panicky

Well Hallelujah, it's Halloween Month and I get to send costume suggestions to all of you!  To start out I'm going to go as this:
It's an easy one to put together when you already have the alligators and bonnet.  Tomorrow I'll start making suggestions in case your local alligator population is down this season.  (But crocs work OK too, they just are somewhat hard to harness without live chickens to distract 'em.)

I had to hit the stores to drag in provisions for dinner last night and found a huge turquoise squash/pumpkin substitute that is now the 'centre' of my holiday decorations.  I surrounded it with a bag-full of tiny white squash/pumpkin substitutes and these should all probably last OK in their AC entry hall.  Then I found a bouquet of thistles, also blue-green so threw that in.  I wish I had a better vase, maybe I'll make a cozy for this bright white one (consignment shop, $2- still available at West Elm for $15).

Halloween, Fiddled With

I did find some cocktail napkins with Frankenstein's face on them, very festive.

(there's that SERIOUS line again)

Spent another 5 hours painting up the purple and green quilt yesterday.  I think that today I can finish this part of the (ugh) process, get it on the wall and see if the paint helps it read. If not, or actually IF it does too, it is going to be declared done and sewn together once and for all.  My plan is to print out the QR code on fabric and stick it on the back for 'insurance'.  This would be maybe a foot square so there will be lots of room for additional squares and messages, making the ugly side the BACK side.  But we all know what happens when Sandy makes a plan, don't we?  Sigh.  So off to the studio we (studio-dog and me) go to fritter away more time with questionable results.  And hope that the paint brushes I forgot to wash in time have soaked clean behind my back.

UPDATE:
sense my excitement by this confetti?

3:16 PM, Paint on everything, frustration dripping out of my pores and I took a scan of the QR Quilt and IT READ!  That's the good news.  The bad news is that if one of the quadrants hadn't been upside down all this time it would have not caused me a bit of this angst.  Seems every time I checked and rechecked the placements of the individual squares I was checking one section upside down. But I am one happy camper this afternoon!  Off to buy some batting and put this puppy to bed!  Vindication!  I am not Stoopid, I am simply dyslexic.  OR addled, pick one.
YAHOO!!!
AND, the paint brushes came clean!
