Burnish Sabotage

Turkey Feathers du jour
And the Horror du jour
You're not interested in carefully pussyfooting around the truth today. If you see a direct path to your desired destination, you're ready to do nearly anything to get there in a speedy manner. Unfortunately, others may not be so practical, requiring you to slow down to explain your plan point by point. Don't automatically trust a new partnership today because it may be smarter to work by yourself for a while.
Remember when du jour was PIE?  Coconut Creme or Lemon Meringue or Cherry?  Sigh.  I remember pie fondly...

Had an OCD attack last night and reorganized all my spices (I have way too many! How much Sumac can this non-Armenian use up?) Anyway I got 24 bottles from the Container Store and they arrived yesterday so I had to get them set up.  Spent the whole night funneling spices, throwing out old spices, and then realizing that since I don't have available space in reachable upper cupboards, I need to get the ladder out to get to the Fermented Black Beans and it's Chinese pals category way up high.  I also stuck the Middle Eastern Category up there since those are only once in awhile spices, while the garden variety stuff, Cinnamon, Basil, etc., and five different red peppers (OK, so sue me-  Alleppo, crushed red, cayenne, chipotle, and chili) are readily reachable.  If ever I design another kitchen in my lifetime, unlikely, I will have huge spice storage right next to the stove.  And the Fennel-Fairies will come in every six months to replenish stale and old stuff.

And in related whining, yesterday my squid ink order arrived.  That was in THREE, count 'em, THREE days from the evening I ordered to the morning of the third day.  Well, no wonder, it came from Miami- I could have driven down to get it and saved the special handling shipping, but whatever, I am now the proud mama of a bunch of wee squid ink packets so our rice will be beee-u-tiful!  I just hope I don't scare anybody with it, or worse, turn them off.  Maybe I will just call it 'black rice' and play Teddy Pendergrass in the background to distract 'em.

I unwrapped my hunk of rust from the cloth I was dying and it's bee-u-tiful!  The rust is so thick though that the hand of the fabric is gone.  I need to find out what to do next.  This was a preliminary shot at rusting fabric for the new project, now I know I need less rust!  More control!  And I bought my waste canvas for the embroidery so all the pieces are fitting into place~

dontcha love it when a plan comes together?  (Thanks, George- or is it Hannible?)
