(nearing the end of turkey feather file, thankfully)
There is no expedient to which a man will not resort to avoid the real labor of thinking. Joshua Reynolds
Poifect quote for me lately as I move through life without getting anything thought about. I am now the Turkey Hot Line for my family back in Boston and have to carry my phone around with me all day waiting for the next turkey emergency. Hopefully we got the thing salt rubbed and into it's bag yesterday, and it will be massaged and turned today to try dry-brining which is much more appropriate for a small apartment kitchen than keeping a cooler full of brine and maintaining a cold temperature. Ugh. Been there done that.
And then I have this friend currently residing in the Bayou who proudly told me about taking a package of Sweet Potato Biscuit MIX back to his family. Mix! OMG. I informed him that biscuits are about 4 ingredients available even in the most rudimentary kitchens and there is no reason for a mix. He said it was orange powder, I am gagging just contemplating it. All you need is a real sweet potato but he doesn't believe me. Oh well, glad I don't cook for him. But I am wondering how the TSA will treat bags of orange powder...
So today my goal is to turn from THIS:
Into THIS:
And finally folks, since you all know I'm from Buffalo and have made fun of me for years:

The proportion of snow to summer seems to be a tad off, don't you think?
Any good yarn shops? Croissants?
Hi Anon, I think there are some good yarn shops but I've frankly never shopped for yarn in Buffalo. And croissants? I dunno- they are off my radar these days BUT you would do well looking for kimmelweck rolls there- only available in western NY, but then you also have to buy a side of beef, rare and juicy and a big jar of horseradish. And order a beer or three.
