9 Ways to Boost Your Artistic Creativity, the ongoing series
7. Do something other than art for a little whileDistract yourself temporarily, and see if some time away allows you to recapture your excitement for the project. If you can’t get enthused, put the project away for even longer, or just move on.I’ve come back to pieces years later and was able to complete them with what I had learned in the meantime.(only two more!)
Well, Screw It! It was too hot to go to the zoo today, I have to wait until mid September. We took the dogs out on a long walk and by the time we got home we had to throw them in the pool from the horrible panting (and from rolling in shit while off their leashes). So we are all cooled off again and too lazy to go looking for something else to do. We went to see Blue Jasmine the other night and it was wonderful- Kate Blanchett was spectacular in particular, so go! It's sort of Street Car named Desire without the sex. Then last night we tried a fabulous restaurant down in Palm Beach that was high in an office building so the views across the inland waterway and sunset were amazing. And the food was good too, so the place was jammed. We can't get in 'in season' so have to do these things now. Tomorrow I go back to work and will rip through a few projects to get them into the completed pile. And I'll be the 'Boss of Me' again for a few weeks. Yup. I get to pick which salt mine to go to.
Hilla Shamia, for Artnau -Furniture combing the cast aluminium and wood. The negative factor of burnt wood is transformed into aesthetic and emotional value. Preservation of the natural form of the tree trunk within the explicit boundaries. The general, squared form intensifies the artificial feeling, and in the same time keeps the memory of the material.

Using car hoods found at local scrap yards as his canvas, Berlin-based artist Thomas Klipper creates impressive drypoint etchings inspired by current social conflicts over human rights and emancipation. His latest solo exhibition titled “Resist! Oder let it be!” at Nagel Draxler Gallery on view through August 31st, consists of a series of striking portraits of political figures in an examination of global economic problems and crises.
