than with inventing something new. ---- Helmut John
Well, the BEST thing happened to me today. I wanted to be first at the Apple Store to buy a new charging cord since part of mine got left in Florida and is doing me no good whatsoever. I got there at 10:15 because I stopped for breakfast and the place was already full. I explained my predicament to the greeter who was overwhelmed and overbooked so he told me to go wait 'over there' by the iPods (which by the way I haven't looked at in a long time and they now have red ones!). A few minutes wet by and the greeter came over to me to tell me they don't sell the part I needed BUT he pulled one out of his pocket and handed it to me FOR FREE. Nearly hugged him but I think that's not allowed. And away I went with the idea to go find him a cookie but there aren't any cookie places in that mall. Too bad.
Next stop the toy store to pick up some baby stuff for the shower on Saturday. My quest for a bunch of ducks went down the figurative drain- the nice sized 8" ones are $17 or the other choice are only 2" and 'don't float upright' so that obvioulsy won't do. So second choice was plastic dump trucks for the tables.
Truth be told I never allowed a single plastic toy in the house for my own kids- oh, except for Legos! No guns- I did let them have squirt-fish though, and especially no Barbies. I learned a big lesson from all my careful toy censorship- it didn't mean diddly squat. Son made a gun out of every stick he could pick up. Daughter played with Barbies at her friends house but wasn't all that interested in dolls and truthfully never asked for one.
In Other News, apparently the diabetic dog is more herself now that she's on antibiotics. The good news is that because of the UTI her urine was checked and they found the elevated glucose. She will be retested as soon as she's gets her all-clear on the pee front. She's back at training her brother and not letting him get away with a thing. If he gets a cookie she expects two. (dog cookies, I really didn't 'give' her diabetes with lots of cookies!) So, enough about what is happening here in Boston, I have some Stuff to show~
Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong
A Treasure Hunt for a Bothy!
Get out of the gallery. Art’s not just soft hands.
'Real woodsmen respect the hospitality of the absent owner and replace whatever food they may use, wash all dishes, sweep up and leave the shack in ‘apple pie’ order after their visit, for this is the law of the wilderness which even horse–thieves and bandits respect.' D.C. Beard
Art – getting the things that are inside of us, outside of us – is as much a part of who we are as exploring is. But the idea of art in cold places, out of the way places, that we might venture out into the wild, not to explore but to make art, is kind of weird. There’s these things called bothies. Usually found in the highlands of Scotland, they’re meant as places of refuge and respite from the elements. Unofficial, unlocked and free for anyone to use they save a lot of lives every year. We’ve made four of them; a library, a study, a studio and a gallery. A different kind of bothy, a bothy for art. FOUR of 'em secreted in Ireland where you will never find them without the clues!
I was sent a better picture of that book I showed you yesterday-
Looks like a must for everybody's library! Apparently it's selling in the $300 range so it won't be showing up on my shelves even for that pithy title! I sure do wonder what it's all about.
