Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good
fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
A little info about the Golden Rule today. Hope that I'll tell you some little things you may not have realized and that may help understand design just a little bit more:
I know you will all recognize this Leonardo drawing- Did you know the human is 'designed' on the Golden Mean? Here, the line is superimposed over the Leonardo to see how it's applied.
So, take the curve away...
And this is how it was determined in angles.
Look familiar? Yup, it's one quarter of the Snail's Trail quilt block square.
Check out fractals for another huge subject on how this works!
It's not just for bodies! Perhaps you have seen this 'rule' applied to the Parthenons construction?
But it also works on a smaller level as this illustration shows us.
Even your EAR is designed on the Golden MEan, bet you didn't know that!
But LOOK at this, speaking of ears:
No wonder it's a success- you can't loose with good design.
Well, I suppose you can but then you have other problems too.
Well, I am off into the world today wearing my new TJMaxx clearance sale Coach shoes. Such a deal. Today's list includes wrapping paper for the shower gifts and lunch with my son's 'other' mother who is in town for the event. I realized that I no longer have anything to wrap with here since things were so cleared out with the water damage. I've looked all morning for the tape and all I can find is brown packing tape, certainly not too appropriate. Then tonight he gets a little 'Mommy&Me' time as we head out to dinner together. I'll at least be well fed today, a nice change from the last few!
Cookin' Squirrel (better than a cooked squirrel, eh?)
