This bumper sticker is meant to defend women with body issues, but I think the message is much broader than just that. ANYthing can be done if we change how we see.

Thundery and threatening weekend but only a bit of actual water so far, unfortunately it sounds like a real washout is fixin' to happen. I've been running the dogs outside at every threat so I don't have to go stend in my rubber flipflops on the street waiting for them to pee. We're safe for another few hours before I return to the asphalt. I've been knitting away and have about an inch done again, third attempt. IT's a lace pattern and every time I get this far I discover that I did something wrong from the beginning that makes a difference so this is the third beginning. When you're working on #3 needles, an inch represents a LOT of work. But I think I have it this time though I dropped a stitch a way back and will now have to figure out a repair.
Today we took off looking for some orchids but the street vendors aren't out yet so I guess we'll wait for this years crop. I need to repot the ones I have, so I'll work on that this week and get the mass I already have cleaned up and fertilized. I cannot tell you how happy I am to finally have a plant I don't kill, and in fact my benign neglect brings it back time and time again. Much more bang for the buck in an orchid than a bunch of cut flowers! The whole trick is to stick them under a bush somewhere and forget they are there until they send out a lovely stalk of ten blossoms that last for months. What a gift!
Tomorrow I'm (of course) headed for the studio to continue my clean-up and organization duties- I have really let it go and have been jamming more and more stuff into the nooks and crannies. I need to purge and donate the stuff I'm not using- mostly from combining two studios and having duplicates of everything. I'm going to start putting the extra into boxes and will take it to the art center where kids will hopefully use it in their programs. And I am putting a moritorium on New Supplies unless I absolutely throw out equal amounts to make room. If you're planning a trip to south Florida any time soon make sure and stop by for whatever I'm throwing out that day! Just tell me you're coming and we'll go out for lunch too. And I KNOW a bunch of you do wander through this area. C'mon down!

London-based Korean artist Meekyoung Shin recently installed a series of sculptures made out of soap in the bathrooms of 16 galleries and museums in 15 cities across the United Kingdom. The interactive installation appropriately titled "Toilet Project", invites visitors to use the sculptures to wash their hands. eventually softening and erasing the details and features of the statuettes. Shin's soap creations will be in place until October

“Baitogogo” by Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira is an installation of tangled branches that appear to grow directly out of the architecture of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The branching structures are made out of tapumes, a Brazilian wood that is used for fences. For more on the installation’s three-month-long construction process, see this making-of video -
