I have three messages. One is you should never never give up. Two is you are never too old to chase your dreams. And three is it looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team. Diana Nyad
Today I cooked a bit and noodled around the house, ripped out the latest knit project and played with doggies. Tonight I'm going out for dinner and will desperately try not to make a pig of myself because I haven't been eating real meals! At one point the winds and rain got so bad the electricity went out for a split second and the alarms all went on, I found out my limit for carrying scared-and-stiff panicked dogs is HALF a dog, not two. Anyway I got alarms reset but now I'm a little scared to leave for fear it will happen again and make them even more jumpy. They HATE the alarm. Well, I hate it too.
Sandy, they're dogs. Do I have to keep reminding you?
Yeah, but...
SANDY! Stop it. They will be fine for an hour and a half on their own.
Yeah, but they are scared of thunder and lightening and need to plaster themselves against me...
Sandy- you're an idiot.
I was planning on steeling myself to get to the studio to get some supplies but I just never got around to it. Tomorrow will be soon enough- I'm feeling confident today for the first time that I can get all my projects done before my deadlines, real or imagined.
Gerhard Richter Painting Oh, what a BIG squigeeee he has... All I have are litle scrapey things but mine are prettier. You'll see.
When Mica Angela Hendricks, a professional illustrator, bought a new sketchbook, her young daughter ditched her own art supplies and wanted to contribute to her mothers work. The result is a charming combination of grown up perfection and youthful imagination.
Mica Hendricks is an admitted perfectionist, so sharing her high quality art supplies was a challenge… not to mention letting a young mind modify her drawings. That’s how their teamwork has played out though. Hendricks does a drawing of a head (often inspired by vintage movie stills) and then her daughter adds pen and marker drawings of her own.

Covey's 1990's seven habits of highly effective and successful artists are:
3. Having a specific vision of your success
Artists who are successful have a vision and see themselves achieving great things in their chosen profession. Despite any roadblocks, problems or defeats, their vision kept them working towards their goal. Then, after achieving a goal, a successful artist will create new goals and a new vision to work toward.

Princeton Catylist Wedges and Scrapers: These are by far my most fave tool for encaustics and painting I've ever used. All are silicone so nothing sticks, all have several different applications, and can be cleaned with a wipe of soap and water. These are also fab in the kitchen so when they arrived I saved back some for there, cause I went crazy and bought way too many. Each size comes in a range of different tips- or each tip comes in a range of different sizes (!) But they are so pretty in my brush vase! And, hey, that counts. I got mine at Cheap Joes (linked above) though they fer-shur are not cheap but I bet they would outlast comparable brushes So if you think you might need some new tools to love, here ya go.
And now, as they say, for something COMPLETELY different! South Korean artist Myoung Ho Lee hangs enormous canvases behind trees, creating a real world backdrop for his photo series, “Tree.” Lee digitally removes the cranes and other equipment used to erect the canvases for an effect that is both simple and surreal. He has been taking the photos around the South Korean countryside for the past ten years. How cool is that!
