squabble brig codify

My work has always been involved in exposure. The subject matter is the paint and the paint speaks
 of human needs.   Joan Snyder

Here's something to listen to while you're reading about today's collection of artists who work with Nuthin', the series!

Well, here I am stuck in the studio as a major rain storm rages overhead.  I've been working on the little black quilt and finished all the quilting lines on the vertical without a problem, then started working the diagonals. On the first one the #$%^*_)*&^$%^* machine cut out.  I went to the second line and it cut out twice.  Same thing for the next and the next.  I am yanking my hair out by the handfuls.  So I took a break to check some expected mail helping me find my site meter for the blog.  It wasn't there yet, but THIS was:
HORRORS:  We feel the frustration of bumping up against our own limitations today, motivating us to push even harder. But it's challenging to make real progress as go-getter Mars squares off with taskmaster Saturn. We're driven by the passionate Scorpio Moon, empowering us to overcome the obstacles if we are willing to do the hard work in a methodical manner. In contrast, logical Mercury prompts fair-minded thinking once he slips into objective Libra.
If it would stop raining I'd go home in a huff.  It did, and I did.

New York artist Mark Fox creates amazing sculptural pieces by painting text and imagery on paper and then fabricating the paper into corrugated sheets from which the resulting sculptures are built. The honeycombed forms appear from different angles as solid or virtually transparent, revealing the openness of their structure.

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

Inspiration is a mysterious creature and it can come when you least expect it. Madrid-based photographer Esther Lobo first got the idea for these stunning images while working on another project using ink. Titled "Rorschach Food" the photographic series investigates the different textures of various sauces and condiments such as mustard, ketchup, soy sauce and squid ink. "The stains were made completely manually with my own hands and without post-processing tricks." Esther says, "I dropped the food over soft plastic plates and then I bended them to obtaine the symmetric stains. Finally I placed the source of the stain over the symmetrical image, and so documented the psychological portrait of each food stuff."

Do fountains always make you have to pee too?
American born and Berlin based street artist Brad Downey (previously seen cutting up walkways and exchanging the surfaces) creates clever urban interventions using found objects in unconventional ways. For his latest art installation called "Fountain", Brad transformed an old rusty bicycle into a fountain by channeling the water from a nearby canal through the frame and out of the handlebars back into the canal.

This is NOT a Sumpthin' From Nuthin' entry!  This is a whole lot of Sumpthin'!
And finally today, Do Ho SuhNew York based Korean artist,  creates beautifully detailed installations where he constantly has us question the identity of the individual in modern day society. Those of you who live near Los Angeles, might have seen a few of his sculptures at LACMA where he worked with the idea of the clashing of culture and identity most Korean-Americans face.
