I am packing to get back to Boston tomorrow, basically wandering around and throwing anything soft into the suitcase to protect the decanter the Griffy's bought us. I am taking my camera so in a week maybe I'll have some pictures up.

Tomorrow night I am going to a lecture by Chungie Lee at the Watertown Arts Ctr and am really looking forward to it- her work is amazing. She is known for pojagi, a traditional Korean form, but she has taken it into sculpture. I can't wait for her slides.
Yesterday I was at the Quilters Choice teacher presentation day and I am discouraged and disappointed. There were over 150 women there at the two sessions, I gave my spiel and told them they HAVE to join my class because TY retired and I need to get out of the house Then I had 5 people want me to change the class to a weekend and 4 want me to keep it on Tuesdays. I am only one woman, and neither day has enough students to make me want to do it at all. Meanwhile I have spent hours on this butt-ugly sample that still isn't finished enough to leave there to attract more people. So, that's what I'm up to today. I bought another 2 yards of Kaffe cabbages yesterday to 'fix' the borders so I must finish that today, then do some fused circles too- ANYthing to make this more palatable. The kick in the pants is that as soon as this is over the quilt will be cut up into baby size- I'll keep one for some unfortunate newborn as a gift, and then give the other one to whichever charity calls me first. I think the cabbages will help a lot. Bummer.
I have a long list of things I must deal with at home too- getting slides out to a few places, picking a few pieces for the show in Arlington this spring and getting slides prepared for that postcard. Then I also have to hit the yarn shop for a project, check in at the post office so they keep forwarding the mail, see my kids and the A-squares as soon as they get back from St. Barts. Maybe I can get a meal out of them too.
And Mandy called today with her array of 'pork products' she wants to bring over. She bought a pig last spring and now it resides in her freezer so I suspect she has had enough pork for awhile.

Interesting topics, nice pics and lovely dog.
Happy New Year !
OHMYGOSH...they even have Tibetan Mastiffs....harder to find I think that even Tibetan Terriers. Personally, I'd prefer a dog-beast that isn't the size of a heifer, but you can see who won that particular pet argument---not me.
Anyway....where is Newton? West of Boston? For some reason I'm thinking out towards Lexington, and am too lazy to find a map or google it....
I went to Fletcher (technically in Somerville, but kinda on the Cambridge line...close enough to walk to Steve's for ice cream, even in the snow as I recall), but hated the driving around there so much I didn't tootle about the metro area much. I'd either go into Boston or escape to the coast or NH when I had enough extra money for gasoline to escape.
Where is the teaching? Fla? or Mass? I'll be in Lowell on Feb. 2nd---doing the brown bag lunch talk (weather permitting) at the NEQM in conjunction with my quilt being in the Best of the New England Quilt Guilds show (talk about an opportunity falling into your lap). If you're around and it's not too far drop in???? Would love to meet you. Otherwise, I suppose now that I live in Maine instead of Wash DC or Wash state, I'll probably have to face Boston, if for no other reason than a good museum "fix" and will hope to cross paths somehow.
Cheers, Sarah (from the quiltart list among other cyberplaces)
