Worry Worry Worry
"Most people are bothered by those passages of Scripture they do not understand, but the passages that bother me are those I do understand."
- Mark Twain
There is one of those awful convergence things going on in my life today. When a thought hits me 3 times or three random thoughts come together at once, I take it as my 'sign' to figure it out. There was a movie review in the New York Times yesterday about 'Jesus Camp' that made my neck hairs bristle. Right now I am having problems figuring out the differences between the militant Palestinian training camps for young Muslim kids and the same kind of indoctrination going on in the Evangelical Christian movement right here in this country. How can any war training be justified 'in the name of god', especially in kids who are so impressionable? The Muslim kids are considered fully educated when they have memorized the Koran. Well, I memorized the 'Creation of Sam McGee' and know nothing about the Artic gold rush or the kind of cold that makes a man wish for a furnace in spite of coming from Buffalo. Memorization and understanding are not related.
One of the most important rocks this country was built on was separation of church and state, but both these groups are putting their religion above their freedom and I just don't understand how the emphesis has fallen off of thinking for oneself and instead following blindly along some one else's path without questioning or understanding history. I don't much care what other folks believe, but I do resent them thinking everyone has to believe the same way.
Sure wish that rapture would come do the massive clean-out that they promise. i will stay behind and help things start anew on the blank slate, a grandmother without grandchildren who remembers things as they used to be, thank you very much.
Guess I better order that espresso maker and a life-time supply of the wee pods just in case production slows down when they all leave...

I think we're all converging on the same worries...
Even the comics!
Yes, must lay in some coffee and a whole lot of flour and yeast methinks. And thread, lots and lots of thread. I can hole up with the fabric I already have.
But seriously, I wish that beyond knowledge and understanding, folks would see how we all share similar important things like love and children and quiet moments - watching the sun on a field, or holding someone's hand.
