Finally, Good Horror!

Read this one carefully because it tells me that LACK OF ARTISTIC SKILLS NEED NOT STAND IN MY WAY.
You could have the most amazing vision today, and by demonstrating patience and follow-through you may even be able to produce something special. Even if you're not Beethoven or Rembrandt, a lack of artistic skills need not stand in your way. Although you would like your work to be appreciated, it's more important now to be creative, whether or not anyone else notices what you do. Remember, it's currently about the process rather than the finished product.

What new fresh hell is this? Sounds like I can get the 5&10 cent store needlepoint on plastic kit and all will be well. Kinda hate to waste energy on something as scary as a quilt... Oh well I must remember that the whole idea is Process. keep telling myself 'Process, Process, Process...'

So instead of the usual crapola, today I went to the farm store and bough some 3' long leeks which are indeed 'sweating with the oldies' (a couple of elderly 'taters) as we speak. I aded a quart of chicken broth and a pinch thyme and am waiting for it to all cook together. Then I will cool it, use my new immersion blender and add some cream, and dinner is served.
Here are some normal leeks:But underneath these were these, big boned leeks:
And I only needed one for a whole pot of soup:
I also bought a bunch of gladiolas, and forty pounds of other stuff I could barely cram into the refrigerator. It's good thing though because it forced me to (ahem) edit the stuff in there down to keeping only stuff that hadn't gotten black and gushy. I get in so much trouble at this store- have to have all seventeen kinds of mushrooms, the freshly made pastas, a dozen of the best biscotti, an array of nuts, the best cold cuts in the eastern hemisphere---and I buy way too much. I have lots of options now, no excuse to not make some fabulous summer dinners. Well, except the big one- I'd rather go out!

So we're IN tonight with hot potato leek soup because TY doesn't eat cold soup. I'll save the leftovers and chill them down for myself tomorrow, sprinkle with chives, and hide in a closet and gobble it all up. Oh, did I mention that the main course is duck breast? heh heh heh
