Rustically Dipthonged Incunabula

I know, I know, I've been gone practically a whole week.  We went to Sarasota whee TY played golf and I shopped St Armonds Circle-  well, really just Dreamweaver, and visited the Selby Botanical Gardens where I oohed and ahhhed over orchids.  I saw a Pitcher Plant!  So cool.

And not just in Borneo!
It was a fun weekend, capped off by taking the long route home to go through Boca to pick up Pepper.

Sigh.

I am in love with this sweet doggie.  We had the afternoon and night with him at home where he cuddled up to both of us and after a few blocks walking on the leash 'got it', a necessary skill for dogdom around here.  The weird thing is he doesn't respond to his original name or the normal doggie cues 'Sit', 'Stay', 'Down'-  stuff like that.  We have figured out that his previous home, in Miami, perhaps was Cuban and he knows Spanish instead.  So we are on a massive reorienting mission, progressing well.  And we found out he barely eats anything, a skinny little guy, so cheese is the treat of choice.  Finally heard him bark today at the UPS delivery here at the studio- the guy next door has huge boxes going in and out all day and the cart went by with a load that Pepper couldn't figure out.  Solution?  Bark!

TY loves the doggie too.

Molly-  not so much.  She wants to go for the throat like a lion chasing antelope, then dine on his entrails while still steaming warm.  TY picked her up from boarding Monday morning and handled the re-introductions of the two.  Molly ended up sequestered to the back seat for the ride home, Pepper took to the foot space in the passenger space where he could peek through to where she could stage her leap.  Growling ensued.  TY prides himself on doggie awareness so took them on a long walk together-  but keeping them apart.  Unfortunately they both decided to poop at once.  As Pepper was in his position, Molly sprang forth to grab him so there was poop flying, dogs to untangle, and TY standing there with his little blue bag wondering what in hell to do next.

I was serving my first day, out of two weeks, in jury duty.  Federal court, for crying out loud.  Luckily I was #14 and they were able to put together a panel that ended at #13, and I never thought they would pick him-  he was from Honduras and didn't speak English very well at all, plus has his own landscaping business-  skin of my teeth escape, even though I felt sorry for #13 and also the young woman with an 8 month old, a 3 year old, and a full time job!  However I have to call in every evening after 5:30 to see if I am needed the next day.  Weird system.  But now I am  basically free for 2 years.

Oh yeah, this is supposed to be about my art life, isn't it?  Well today I am wrapping and rolling the quilt headed for the Yeiser Gallery in Paducah-  have to get it out this week and that means a dog-less trip to FedEx.  It's getting way too hot to leave them in the car, even for a few short minutes.

While I was gone I get a shipment of the most beautiful fabrics-  but one is a slippery knit, one is heavy taffeta, and another is a Japanese manipulated thing out of unknown material but to die for.  So, there are a few projects added to my list.  And with that I am off to wrap and roll, and then pay this stack of bills.  Sound like a fun day?  I didn't think so.  maybe I can also do another edge of the Four Turkeys binding, but that may be too much to ask...

Here's a laugh for the day:

OK that was quite successful. The laugh for the day had me scratching my head for a moment but was SOOOOO funny when it slammed into my brain a moment later. Hey, no coffee yet, so cut me some slack. Off to join you in the edge-finishing thing. The audio book is really helping here, my first.
