THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I don't want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school.
Stuck at home with nothing to do but listen to the dogs barking their heads off at the air conditioning guys. I finally isolated the biggest perp in the guest bedroom where she is using her Houdini skills trying to open the door- shouldn't be long because it's a latch handle and she pretty much has it knocked. The other guy is sitting in front of the screen doors watching the guys hauling stuff in and out of the bedroom across the courtyard. All he wants in life is to go 'help' and the poor thing is just wagging away hoping to get noticed. But by noon, +/- I should again have AC.
We 'sort of' slept last night with the doors open and the winds raging outside, but because of the high walls around the courtyard, we didn't get much air transference and the room, the house was pretty hot all night. The noise drove the dogs crazy since they are only used to a whir from the AC, so they were up and down all night. At 2 AM I was out on the street with them in my nightgown and fuzzy slippers- nice big moon in case you weren't out there at that time to catch me and my act. The rest of the night they spent time sitting on the bed staring at me alternately. Creatures of habit, and when their habitat is disrupted they get all freaky.
ANYway, I am going to take this opportunity to throw together some pumpkin bread to stick in the freezer for the company coming in a few weeks. So that's what I'm on here looking for, pumpkin bread recipes. I've already stuck 2 loaves of banana bread in the freezer, though TY did manage to grab the end off one. You have to move fast around here to get your share! Wish I could get to today's Farmers Market but the guys won't be through for a couple more hours.
Meanwhile Sandy's Hurricane has been downgraded. True to experience, another non-event. Good for all of up, not so much for my ego. I do hope when it merges further up the coast that it continues to be a non-event.
This gets somewhat long but it's a very important point that should be made to women in the arts.
Like a traditional sculptor carving away at a piece of stone, artist Alexander Korzer-Robinson eviscerates text and whitespace leaving only the images. In doing so he creates entirely new narratives using only the pre-existing illustrations, charts, graphs and other visual elements printed inside of each book. Of his work he says:
By using pre-existing media as a starting point, certain boundaries are set by the material, which I aim to transform through my process. Thus, an encyclopedia can become a window into an alternate world, much like lived reality becomes its alternate in remembered experience. These books, having been stripped of their utilitarian value by the passage of time, regain new purpose. They are no longer tools to learn about the world, but rather a means to gain insight about oneself.
Oh honey!!! Guess what's for DInnnnnEEErrrrr!
if you're not addicted to Portlandia, you must give it a try- many episodes on YouTube.
We're closing in on Halloween and I have a peoples makeup costume and ...
Mona Lisa as she would look as a Real Housewife today,
(thanks to Jason Laurits- go see his site!)
and this guy,
some other sort of animal that is so well disguised I can't identify... Let's just say he's a good sport, my 'pets' wouldn't put up with a face mask, in fact freak slightly when the groomer attempts to put bows on their ears..And because I just can't NOT start out the next 500 posts without a squirrel-
Arrives as a set, you hang these resin Hide and Seek Squirrel Hooks on a wall to collect all that stuff that needs hanging. Real ones would just run off with your stuff. whew. 499 to go.
