What I should be doing.
What I AM doing is collecting Calls-for-Entry today.  So far I've found a few that might fit, and one I might be able to (ahem) avoid the rules a bit. We'll see how much time I have this month because it's a busy one.  My goal is 5 shows this year and I'm pretty sure I could knock off two or maybe three with this month's crop of calls.
I was sick as a puppy all day yesterday, so today is a slow-moving day with perhaps a trip to the studio if I garner the necessary energy

Figure out what you do well and make it better.  Thomas S. Buechner

I have a friend, let's call her Teddy...  She is always on top of what I like, and takes it upon herself to send me stuff that she knows I will go a bit crazy for.  Today's mail included these color wheels:  LOVE them!
OMG, drink Umbrellas in a color wheel!  Be still my heart.
And this orange for our shared Florida addresses.  Wish I could grow them like this.
These will get stuck up on my Color Wheel Page-  things are getting more interesting there now that I've exhausted all the academic examples.

Netherlands-based artist Berndnaut Smilde has mastered the art of conjuring clouds as part of his Nimbus series. Smilde’s methods however are less mythic and more practical, instead relying on delicate balance of smoke, moisture and light. Of course science alone doesn’t account for the striking visual impact contained in each image, as the artist carefully selects the perfect location for the creation of each cloud and then painstakingly lights it from behind for the desired effect

Moving from ethereal clouds floating in exhibit space to something more menacing-  crystal forms slicing through a floor.  Note the contorted floor boards here, not unlike my own apartment back in Boston!  Perhaps thats why I find this installation so compelling.

Floor/crystals  installation by Jonathan Latiano that was installed in a gallery space at the School 33 Art Center in Baltimore. The piece features an explosive crystal growth protruding from a rippling gallery floor that is meant to call into question the continued production of plastics, resins and polymers and their long-term impact on the geological landscape around us.

Often misunderstood, the spiritual religion of Vodun — or Voodoo — conjures up images of primitive rituals, animal sacrifices, spirits and curses. But within every religion, lies beauty and mystery in the practices of those who believe. The photos in the gallery show Egungun spirits from the Nigerian Yoruba Clan. These masqueraded dancers depict ancestral spirits of the clan’s past who are believed to visit earth to possess and offer guidance.  Fabulous work, and very like the Haitian flags that attract all us magpies.

And because we decided on Ravens (and/or crows) as out latest obsession (I hear you are tired of my raccoon already!) I have these for ya.  The one on the right is a pen and ink- mostly ink- drawing and the wing on the tee shirt, which I LOVE but really couldn't wear with my 'overdrawn' body is a screen print I found that on Fab this morning.  I think it's quite amazing how it relates to the crystals popping through the floor too!  have you ever noticed how once you SEE something you start SEEING it wherever you happen to go!  Hmm, guess that's my thought for the day.  UPDATE:  The incredible raven print on the left is from HERE, Larry Vienneau's Etsy shop.  I found the ravens through an image search and neglected to keep track of where-  I was too taken with the exquisite detail apparently.  Sorry!

One last thing, a little shout-out to my brand new Aussie friend and all her friends who read!  Thanks a bunch!  Isn't it nice to have a 'friend' who doesn't interrupt your coffee mornings?  Thanks for reading!  Thanks for the note!  Sorry it's so difficult to comment.   S
