With drawing and painting, as in life, if your VALUES are right, a lot of other things just fall into place. Anon
Jumping right in today-
Edinburgh-based artist Polly Verity creates detailed and intricate sculptures out of paper and wire. Most of her subjects are animals or mythological creatures and the size of her sculptures range from palm to life sized. The wire for the sculptures is built up into a 3D frame and this becomes the contour and outline of the creature. The wires are joined together through wrapping and pinching; no heat is applied to forge the wire. She then applies wet fine paper that she first sizes with glue onto the structure. The paper dries and tightens up while formed on the frame. Her creations are usually kept encased in a glass dome or box for protection and display.

I finally finished the appliqué on the little black quilt- spent most of yesterday on it sitting in front of the bright window and toiling away while watching murder shows on tv, a serious addiction I'm afraid. (No, I am not planning anything, but I sure know what not to do.) I stuck it on the wall of the bedroom- a perk of grasscloth- just to see it from a distance. Pepper immediately started barking at it. Yea, doggie! It must look real enough in his addled little mind because he absolutely never barks at anything. Between that and washing my cup and bowl (life is easy when you aren't cooking!) the whole day went pffft. Today I am still nervous to hit the studio so instead I will take some time off from work and go wander through the houses being built in the neighborhood. I love this activity, might even take my camera for some more construction images. One never knows where that might lead. I hope Diana Nyad hits Key West soon so I can get away from the news channel. Cheering her on from not too far away! For cryin' out loud, she is 64 and long distance swimming,
how can I NOT cheer?

Covey's 1990's seven habits of highly effective and successful artists are:
2. Staying focused despite distractions
A successful artist will not be distracted from their art and their commitment to achieving their goals. To be successful at most things requires a focus and a “singleness of purpose” and art is no different. Successful artists are focused, and their art is a priority in their lives.

A whole series of dress pattern collages:
Continuing to show stuff from my old, newly rediscovered website remnants- most are 24" square, on canvas with stretchers, various adornments, flights of fancy, and embellishment- just like my stories.
Most have homes, but contact me if you are interested. Again, sorry about the hideous photographs.

Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from a woman's jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.
Whoop Whoop Whoop- and I'm out of here for another day!

I love the saying about being dead or stupid. Thanks for never having a boring blog!
I am going to quote that tomorrow!
I'm not sure what a ploolka is but I'm already in favor of it (it was part of today's recaptcha: 66 ploolka)
In other news, I did yardage calculations for a quilt my brother has asked my mother to make and felt very rusty. I think I'll go back to my 2" squares LOL.
