SUFFERIN SUFFREGETTES

"When the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art."   Leonardo da Vinci

First off I gotta say that I am thrilled over the RedSox win last night.  We had a friend in a white hat sitting right behind the batter and it was cool to watch him being there and getting excited too.  Loved watching the series and I saw most of it.  Saturday is the city wide party and big plans are afoot.

Today I was finally able to get a few things 'put by' for Thanksgiving.  I made my cranberry sauce and the cornbread for the stuffing and a few lists because when I get back here ready to cook I'll have to start from scratch at the grocery store again.  In addition TY wanted to leave the condo for the first time and we ventured out to breakfast at the new diner down the street.  Of course he doesn't have a jacket that fits over his huge
slingy-ding with all it's velcro and straps.  But another milestone happened today when he figured out how to take it off.  Baby steps.  Then this afternoon we went for the checkup and he found out he is supposed to be doing nothing, not the PT he was given at the hospital.  Immediately he was better, I drove him home and he actually took out the trash for me.  We're getting there.

I can't wait to get back to the doggies even though they will be completely my deal instead of shared walks.  Since I figured out that Pepper is the cause of my problems, I will probably be taking them one at a time because he is somewhat distracted and occasionally gets anxious-  he is definitely  more inclined to flight than fight and the flight takes part with me flying along behind.  Poor little guy.
My grandson being gentle with a tiny kitten they were visiting,
SO against his nature!
(there was a face painter there, he doesn't have a skin condition!)

One more day and we fly out of here and that should be an adventure going through security with the sling. And I think Pepper is anxious...  So, with all my confinement time, I've found a couple of things to show you!  And Away We Go:

Pam Lobb:  'My current series are paper and fabric sculptures influenced by traditional china, lace, and crochet patterns. The prints incorporate my existing interest in flora and fauna with reference to traditional china patterns. The subject matter draws attention to regional rural history and appropriates traditional women’s craft. I print onto fine handmade Japanese papers then mould them with fabric to create delicate objects that are feminine and whimsical.'

INCOMPLETE MANIFESTO FOR CHANGE     Bruce Mau

Coffee breaks, cab rides, green rooms.
Real growth often happens outside of where we intend it to, in the interstitial spaces — what Dr. Seuss calls "the waiting place." Hans Ulrich Obrist once organized a science and art conference with all of the infrastructure of a conference — the parties, chats, lunches, airport arrivals — but with no actual conference. Apparently it was hugely successful and spawned many ongoing collaborations.

In honor of Halloween tonight~

Austin-based Emily Blincoe loves making portraits — and it shows, even when it comes to portraits of inanimate things like candy. Her Sugar Series has her amassing a staggering amount of sugary treats, then grouping them according to the colour of their packaging.  I really miss stealing my kid's candy the day after...

Found my my friend Teddy and donated o the cause.  Thanks!

You know, just today I was telling someone that a nice "next-career" might be just organizing quilt get away weekends... alternating working at home with working at someone else's getaway. And it might be even fun to just to do this. Can't get yourself invited to TED (did I tell you I'm going to our local TEDx?)? Come to this event and write on the walls, talk to people, be inspired, go home tired and full of new ideas. You bring yourself and new ideas for other people to go home with.

Sounds like a plan.
